It's all about sultry, smoldering eyes here; this look will always create maximum impact, and never go out of style. The fun thing about a smoky eye is that you don't have to use black-in fact, it's more fun if you don't! Choose a colour that complements your eye or skin tone, including charcoal, amethyst, sapphire or even gold. As long as you use the darkest color right at your lash line and on your lids and blend outwards, you're halfway there.

1. Start with a cleansed, toned and moisturized face.
2. Pat concealer under your eyes and on top of blemishes. Lightly pat concealer over your lips as well.
3. Using your foundation brush, apply foundation to perfect your complexion.
4. Choose two or three dramatic colors you would like to blend around your eyes-for example, Black, Charcoal and Grey, or Violet and Amethyst.
5. Begin by lining your eyes with your darkest color, from the eyelashes a small way outwards and add a tiny bit underneath your eyes as well.
6. Add the two darker colors going out from the middle of your eye; the lightest color should fall on the outermost corners of your eyes.
7. Re-line your eyes with eye pencil and blend the colors well, smudging the shades until they blend together seamlessly.
8. Using a bronzing brush, suck your cheeks in and apply a light bronzer to the inner hollow of your cheeks.
9. Curl your eye lashes.
10. Apply three coats of mascara,
11. Lightly add a bit of pale lipstick or barely there lip-gloss to keep the focus on your lush, dramatic eyes.
12. Lightly set your look with a sweep of translucent powder and you're done!
